Dr Eimear Meegan

Eimear completed her PhD in 2017 in University College Dublin’s School of Archaeology where her research used visualisation techniques to explore the role of choice as a driver of social change in Neolithic island societies. She is also a graduate of Trinity College Dublin’s Classics Department (BA Ancient History and Archaeology and Spanish), the University of Glasgow’s School of Humanities (MPhil Mediterranean Archaeology) and UCD’s School of Art History and Cultural Policy (MA Cultural Policy and Arts Management).

Most recently, Eimear completed a HDip in 3D Computer Animation in DkIT’s School of Informatics and Creative Arts. Having focused largely on the development and application of archaeological theory in earlier postgraduate work, she has spent the years following her doctoral research exploring how the potential of digital technologies can be harnessed in the documentation, analysis, interpretation and management of cultural heritage. In this context, she has worked on a range of digital heritage projects with TU Dublin spin-out company The Virtual Lab, including Virtual Historic Dublin and the Digital Dowth Hall project. Over the last 20 years, she has also worked in commercial archaeology as well as further and higher education.
